Arnold Jensen Arnold “Arnie” C. Jensen age 84 of Westbrook passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Westbrook Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday. Burial is in the Westbrook Cemetery. Arnold Jensen was born October 7, 1930 on the family farm in Amboy Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Kristian and Esther (Christensen) Jensen. He went to country school until the age of 12 and then to Westbrook until graduation. Arnie joined the Army after high school and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged December 31, 1953. On August 28, 1954 Arnie married LaDonna Swanson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove. To this union four children were born: Paula, Jeffrey, Cornell, and Amy. Arnie attended barber school in Fargo, ND. He and LaDonna lived in Westbrook, Fargo, Jamestown, back to Fargo, and Big Stone City. They moved back to Westbrook in 1967 where he opened Arnie’s Barber Shop. Arnie barbered from 1967 to 2013 when he had to retire due to health reasons. He wore many hats in his public life in Westbrook. He served as a policeman, ambulance driver, and was a school bus driver for 40+ years. Arnie was a member of the Westbrook VFW, Barber Association, and lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He loved horses, riding on trail rides, and fishing. Arnie was so very proud of his children and grandchildren.

Arnie is survived by his son Jeffrey (Rhonda) Jensen of Buffalo; daughter Amy (Lee) Schmalz of Westbrook; grandchildren Shane and Lindsay Jensen; step grandchildren Jacob (Erica) and Stacia Gleitz; and great grandchildren Kiara, Kashen, and Kinsley. He is also survived by his brother Robert Jensen of Arkansas, nieces and nephews: Linda Bergs, Debra (Ross) Johnson, Kevin (Jayne) Swanson; and a host of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Kristian and Esther Jensen, wife LaDonna, daughter Paula, son Cornell, brothers Irvin and Donald, and sisters Helen Stillings Gohman and Elaine Larson.

  2. Amy, Jeff, and all:: so sorry to hear of Arnie’s passing. He and LaDonna were great friends, and they will be missed. As we did with your mom’s memorial, we will remember your dad @ Christmas with a memorial to the Tammy E. Benson scholarship fund @WWG. God bless your family, and the memories of your dad.(We couldn’t make it to the funeral, as we were waiting on Shelley’s Drs. to call. She is in hosp. with meningitis, and is some better, but just got out of ICU, and into a reg room, so are thankful for that . God bless your family, and we know He is with us.
