Becky MenkRebecca “Becky” (Lund) Menk of Franklin passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 6, 2017 while surrounded by her family at home, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.  She was 64 years young.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin.  Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 10 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Thursday.  Burial is in Birch Coulee Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rebecca “Becky” (Lund) Menk was born April 17, 1953 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to George and Bonnie Lund.  On June 19, 1971 Becky was united in marriage to Steve Menk.  She resided in Franklin until her death.  Becky was Postmaster in Morton, Minnesota for 28 years, and after her retirement she owned the Red Sled in Morton.  She was well known for her hugs to everyone she came in contact with.  Becky’s favorite thing to do was spending time with her 5 grandchildren – they were her pride and joy.  Becky was a very talented crafter, garage sale enthusiast, and could make anything out of nothing.  She will be greatly missed by many.

Becky is survived by her husband Steve; children: Dody (Pete) Fuhr, Darrick (Deb) Menk, Daniel (Tasha) Menk; 5 grandchildren: Taylor, Logan, Sydney, Lauryn, and Emilee; mom, Bonnie Lund; siblings: Jeff (Connie) Lund, Julie (Kevin) Thompson, Greg (Sandy) Lund, Shelly (late Mark “Rocker”) Weinzetl; brothers-in-law Dennis (Nelda) Dickmeyer, Dennis (Dorothy) Menk; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father George, sister Kathy Dickmeyer, great-nephew Drew Larson, and brother-in-law Mark “Rocker” Weinzetl.

We love you to the moon and back Mom, Grandma!

  1. Dear Menk family. I am very sorry to have read of the recent death of Becky. Please accept my most sincere condolences. I would like to share something that I have personally found to be very comforting. It is found in the Bible at John 5:28,29 and also at Revelation 21:3-5. These verses tell us that soon God is going to bring about a resurrection of our dear loved ones, as well as do away with all of the many causes we have for suffering, including sickness, pain & death. Knowing this has always comforted me and it is my hope that these thoughts will likewise comfort your family also during this most difficult time in your lives.

  7. I’m deeply sorry to hear of Becky’s passing. She will be missed dearly by her Relay For Life family. I always treasured seeing her at Relay, her warm hugs & our sweet chats together. Her positive spirit modeled to me what a “survivor” really looks like! I’m truly sad that her life on earth has ended but I rejoice with her as she celebrates her new life in Christ. I wish I would have told her how much I admired the fight she fought, so gallantly.
    Bless all of you…
