Bev HollandBeverly R. Holland, age 84 of Tracy, passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at Sanford Tracy Medical Center in Tracy.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 5 at Lake Sarah Lutheran Church in Garvin. Private family burial will be prior to the service on Friday. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 4 at Tracy Area Funeral Home.  Memorials are preferred to Shetek Lutheran Ministries or the Tracy Murray County Hospice House.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Bev was born November 7, 1933 to Pearly and Fern (Schmidt) Nelson in Tracy, Minnesota.  She graduated from Tracy High School and attended college in Brookings for one year.  After her schooling, Bev moved to the Twin Cities where she worked for Northwest Airlines.  She was engaged to Thomas Holland before he served in the US Army.  After he returned from Korea, the couple was united in marriage on June 18, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tracy.  Together they lived and farmed east of Balaton.  Later they moved to their present family farm near Garvin, where they raised their five children.  In addition to being a homemaker, Bev owned a fabric shop in Tracy, worked at Slayton Floral and did commercial sewing for Clarkfield Outdoors.  In 1998 Tom and Bev retired and moved to Valhalla Island on Lake Shetek.  Bev was active with the Shetek Lutheran Ministries Bible Camp and their annual quilt auction for many years.  In August of 2017, Bev moved back to Tracy.  Bev loved cooking.  She also made the best chocolate chip cookies ever! She also enjoyed sewing, gardening and quilting.  She was a very artistic person and enjoyed drawing, painting and arts and crafts.  Bev loved attending and following her grandchildren’s activities.  She was a member of Lake Sarah Lutheran Church.

Bev is survived by her children: Greg (Janet) Holland of Garvin, Lynn (Lane) Larson of Billings, MT, Paul (Karen) Holland of Gilbert, AZ, Kathryn (Wade) Schmidt of Garvin, Mike (Sheila) Holland at the family farm near Garvin; grandchildren: Wade, Erica, Lee, Luke, Ashley, Bryce, Bo and Carly; eight great-grandchildren; sister Carmen Murphy of Billings, MT and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband Thomas.

  1. Keeley Island Friends will make a contribution to Shetek Lutheran Ministries in Memory of Bev. We at Keeley Island enjoyed Bev when she was a resident on the island. She enjoyed visiting and having you over coffee. RIP dear friend.

  2. Bev was a staple at quilt retreat here in Montana with Lynn and Casey at her side. We will miss her dearly this weekend. Much love and condolences to the family and most especially Lynn and Casey. Your mom was a very special lady and retreat will not be the same.

  6. I pulled out my fall decorations today and the first thing I see is the table runner Bev made for me. A time for tears. I will miss my dear friend so much! We won’t get to have coffee or go to lunch anymore but she will be forever in my heart. I loved her dearly and my prayers are with you. I know how much she was loved by all of you!
