Carol Friedrich Carol Friedrich, age 90 of Redwood Falls, formerly of Morgan, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at St. Cloud Hospital while surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 15 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan. Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment is in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Carol Marie Friedrich was born May 12, 1925 on the family farm in Morgan Township, Minnesota to Erwin and Sophia (Laabs) Meierding, Sr. She was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Morgan. Carol attended District 109 school and graduated from Morgan High School in 1943. On May 25, 1944 she married Lawrence Friedrich at the United Methodist Church. They farmed in Morgan and Sherman Townships. The home farm in Sherman Township, where 6 generations of the family lived, became a Century Farm in 1991. Carol was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She assisted with the farm work and worked several years for Del Monte and Dekalb. After moving to Redwood Falls, Carol was a part time cook at the Redwood County Law Enforcement Center. She also did custodial work for the ELCA and city offices. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She made afghans and Carebears for all the grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her daughters: Mavis (Lynn) Zimmer of Prinsburg, Ardis Stephens of Redwood Falls, Renee Lueschow of Willmar, and Sheri (Cyril) DeMars of Greer, S.C.; grandchildren: Dan (Michelle) Zimmer, Jeremy Zimmer, Doug (Becky) Zimmer, Jessica Bratsch, Mike Bratsch (fiancée Rose Rohlik), Sara (Clint) Rudenick, Tracie (Dean) Fischer, Nathan (Valerie) Stephens, Angie (Dean) Wilson, Adam Stephens, Melissa Standahl (fiancé Darrell Thorp), Nicole (Juan) Garcia, Kim (Cyle) Stern, Alisha, Andrea and Alexa McCorquodale; great grandchildren: Braxton and Conner Zimmer, Cain Bratsch, Dugan and Rhylee Rudenick, Kendra, Kelsey, and Kallie Fischer, Andrew, Blake, and Claire Stephens, Avery, Zach, and Chase Wilson, Shelby and Kylie Standahl, Juan Garcia, and Brianna Stern; and many other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Lawrence, infant son Larry, daughter Julie, brothers: Roland, Stanley, Wesley, Ervin, Chester, and Raymond, sisters Ruth and Dorothy, and son-in-law Ken Stephens.

  2. Sorry for your loss. I’m am glad I got to know Carol. She was a friend to my parents when they lived at Lakeside too. Carol was a soft spoken and had a sweet smile. Praying for God’s comfort to you all.

  5. My Mother, Erna Larsen, became friends with your parents when she moved to Lakeside in Sept. 2000. These former “farm wives” had similar interests and enjoyed each other’s company. After the fire, my Mother was so happy to see your Mother again at Johnson Park Place and they were once more able to continue their friendship. We were saddened our Mother, age 96 years, passed away in June 2014 but now feel blessed to know they are reunited again. Peace to all your families.
