Floyd D. Castle, age 80 of Redwood Falls passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center in Redwood Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 27 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home.

Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday.  Interment is in Redwood Falls Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Floyd Dorin Castle was born February 2, 1931 at North Redwood, Minnesota to Fay and Hattie (Taubert) Castle.  He attended school in North Redwood.  Floyd worked as a mechanic and heavy equipment operator.  He was drafted into the US Army in 1953 serving in the 2nd Calvary in the Korean War.  Following his service in the Army, Floyd joined his brothers as a partner in Castle Brothers Construction, until retiring in 2007.  Floyd was united in marriage to Margaret Whetston in December 1956.  To this union 5 children were born.  This marriage was later dissolved.  He was a member of the Redwood Falls VFW and American Legion.  Floyd was an avid fisherman and bird hunter, excellent woodworker, and loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes.

Floyd is survived by his children: Rick (Denise) Castle of Redwood Falls, Mike Castle of Bismarck, ND, Lisa (Greg) deCathelineau of Willmar, Todd (Delores) Castle of Bismarck, ND, and Kelly (Steve) Gardner of Willmar; grandchildren: Eric, Wauker, Heather, Myria, Maranda, Heidi, Nathan, Brittney, Katelyn, Allison, and Misty; great grandchildren: Hailiy, Connor, Adam, Nevaeh, Rachel, Austin, Leeum, Cadence, Jordyn, Isaac, Kael, and Landon; siblings: Viola Worth of St. Paul, Helen VanSlooten, Esther Hawton, and Kenneth all of Redwood Falls, Arlene Stevens of Caldwell, ID, and Cheryl Prescott of Redwood Falls.  He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Lillian Grow, Don, Arthur, Harold, Alfred “Fritz”, and Clara Castle.
