Darlene Marie Macht was born December 13, 1929 in rural Redwood County, Minnesota to Raymond and Marcella (Hagert) Baune.  The family attended St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda where she received the sacraments. Darlene attended country school and graduated from Sanborn High School. On October 18, 1949 she married Joe Heiderscheidt in Sanborn. To this union, seven daughters were born. They farmed near Morgan, Springfield, and Lucan. Darlene worked in local cafes and whenever a card group was short a player, they were happy to invite her as a partner as she was a sharp card player. She also enjoyed her job in housekeeping at the Tracy Hospital for over ten years. On October 15, 1988, Darlene married Lennie Macht in Tracy and they lived in Lucan. Together they enjoyed traveling to many states with their pop-up camper and wintering in Arizona. A highlight was a trip to Europe when they saw Pope John Paul II.  Darlene was a warm and loving mother who always made sure her children came first. Her enjoyments in life in addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were a love of music and dancing, flower gardening, Scrabble, playing cards, doing word puzzles and watching Wheel of Fortune. She left us a legacy with her quilts, poems, and memories of weekends at Grandma’s cooking, baking, and sewing. Darlene’s specialties were potato salad and homemade buns. There was always a decorated cake at every grandchild’s birthday and special occasions. She passed on to her family her strong faith and her way of finding good in every person and every situation.

Darlene is survived by her children: Kathy (Jim) Green, Sr. Victoria Heiderscheidt, Sandy Penke, Jane Carlson, Deb (Dan) Maertens, Mary Jo Carlson, Tammy Horner; step children: Alan (Julie) Macht and Lisa (Tom) Buraczewski; 35 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and siblings: Cyrilla (Max) Lande, Doris Roth, Vernon (Ruth) Baune, Rosie Ormberg, James (Myra) Baune, Mary Jane (Jerome) Schmit, Virgil Baune, Betty (Walt) Judd, David (Nancy) Baune, and Janice (Dennis) Jones.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lennie, step-son Terry Macht and his wife Audrey, step-son Steve Macht, grandson Nicholas Carlson, sister-in-law, Jan Baune and two brothers-in-law, Kelly Roth and Gene Ormberg.

She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
