Dorothy RohlikDorothy M. Rohlik, age 88 of Lucan, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Seasons Hospice in Redwood Falls surrounded by family.  Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan.  Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church with a prayer service and Rosary at 6:30 p.m.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.  Burial is in the church cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy was born January 16, 1928 on the family farm in Granite Rock Township, Minnesota, one of 13 children of John and Mary (Pavek) Dolan.  She graduated from Milroy High School, then Glencoe Teachers College, and taught country school in Vesta District 82.  Dorothy met and married Roy Rohlik June 21, 1950 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Milroy.  The couple had 10 children, 29 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren.  Dorothy “Doris” loved her family, her community, and her church.  She was a woman of God and His servant on this earth.  Dorothy loved baking, making quilts, baseball and watching the Minnesota Twins.  She was a lifetime member of the CCW at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Lucan.  But most of all, she truly cared about everyone, especially her children, grandchildren, siblings, in-laws, and nieces and nephews.  Dorothy will be missed, but we rejoice that she is with the Lord in heaven and reunited with all her loved ones, especially her husband Roy, the love of her life, and her son, Kevin, who died in 1976.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Becky Rohlik, Remi (Darla) Rohlik, Carl (Chris Hess) Rohlik, Diane (Mark) Christensen, Mark (Nancy) Rohlik, Clara (Kevin) Schnyders, Scott (Kathy) Rohlik, Stan (Wendy) Rohlik, and Sherri (Don) Rose; 29 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, son Kevin, four sisters, and five brothers.

I didn’t meet Dorothy until the last year of her life, but I feel blessed to have been able to spend that time with her. We cheered for the Twins together, talked baseball in the off season, and had wonderful conversations about her beloved family and her many interests. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My heartfelt sympathies to all of you! It is a truly sad thing to know that Dorothy is no longer physically among us. Her grace, her faith, her absolute devotion to and love of her family will be missed by those who knew her. Those who did not know her will never have the change to learn from her example and role-model. In her silent, humble and faith-filled way, she was a huge formative part of my childhood and even as an adult it was always a pleasure to be in her company! I KNOW she is enjoying her eternal reward with Roy and Kevin….and I hope she and my Mom can get a cup of coffee too! May God’s peace with all of you at this difficult time.

We all loved Dorothy. We would go to the farm when little and she would always be working so hard , but always had time for her cousins. My Mother, Aunt Nora so loved Dorothy too. She always had a smile and a good hearty laugh!
