Elaine R. Christensen age 89 of Northfield, formerly of Redwood Falls, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Northfield Retirement Community in Northfield, MN.  Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls.  Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church.  A private burial will be held in Crestlawn Memorial Gardens near Redwood Falls.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elaine Ruth Christensen was born March 6, 1928 in Vesta Township, Redwood County, Minnesota to William and Grace (Alexander) Sickman.  She attended Country School and graduated from Echo High School in 1946.  Elaine then worked at Montgomery Wards in Redwood Falls.  On November 15, 1947 Elaine married William “Bill” Christensen.  Together they farmed near Wabasso, then for many years on a Gilfillan farm.  Elaine worked alongside Bill, helping with all the farm duties.  In 1979, they moved to Redwood Falls.  Elaine was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls.  She was involved in the choir and taught Sunday School.  Elaine was a member of the United Methodist Women and Circle.  She and Bill enjoyed square dancing, loved to travel, and took numerous trips.  Elaine loved sewing and made many clothes, especially square dancing outfits.  She loved family get-togethers and reunions.

Elaine is survived by her son Dean (Joyce Francis) Christensen of Northfield and their children Emma Christensen (Scott Heines) and Andrew (Darci) Christensen; daughter Pam (Gary) Savage of Shakopee and their children Jana (Kelly) Reger and Jennifer (Sean) Daly.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren Emma & Grace Reger, Conor & Maggie Daly, and Jensen & Etta Christensen; and sisters-in-law: Mavis Sickman, and Lucille & Arlene Christensen. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, and brothers and sister-in-law Harold (Elaine), Elwin, and Milton.
