Eugene Haas Eugene R. Haas age 72 of Morton went to be with his Lord Sunday, March 6, 2016 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. According to Gene’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eugene “Gene” Haas was born July 9, 1943 to Fred and Evelyn Haas in Morton, Minnesota. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith. Gene enlisted in the US Army on March 13, 1967. He served during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged on March 12, 1970. On April 18, 1969 Gene married Marleen Arndt in Redwood Falls. He loved camping, fishing, motorcycling, decorating for Christmas, and spending time tinkering with anything. Gene loved mowing lawn with “The Dixon” at the lake when camping. He served as an usher at Zion Lutheran Church in Morton. Gene loved his family and they loved him deeply; he will be sadly missed. Gene will now be with his Lord forever.

Gene is survived by his wife Marleen; daughter Tina (Mark) Vangsness of Morton, Sheri (Paul) Mathias of Muscatine, IA, and Michael (Jessica) Haas of Mapleton; grandchildren: Megan, Ashley, and Jennifer Vangsness, Michelle and Jessie Read, Andrew and Brady Haas; and 6 great grandchildren: Leslie, Keegan, Brooklynn, Camden, Marleigh, and Aydin; sister Shirley Frericks, brothers Robert and Francis Haas; and half-brother John Toomey. He is preceded in death by his parents, half-sister Kate, brother Fred, and sister Gloria.

    I’m sorry to hear of Gene’s passing, as a friend and colege for over 40 years it’s hard to say goodbye. I worked with Gene from 1975 until his retirement and don’t recall him without a smile and positive outlook on life. Gene will be missed but the memories will live forever.

  9. My thoughts are with the family since Gene’s passing. I only came across this now. Marleen is my aunt that I haven’t seen in over 35 years along with my cousins Tina, Sheri and Mikey (as I knew him then).
