Gwen Hyde Gwen I. Hyde age 74 of Redwood Falls passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.  Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday March 7, 2017 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gwendolyn Ines (Peterson) Hyde was born November 21, 1942 in Walnut Grove, Minnesota to Oscar and Beatrice (Harlan) Peterson.   Gwen graduated from Johnson High School in St. Paul.  She then worked in downtown St. Paul as a secretary for a short period of time.  On April 5, 1968, she was united in marriage to Robert Hyde in Watertown, South Dakota.  Together the couple lived in St. Paul until 1973, when they moved to southwest Minnesota and settled in Redwood Falls in 1975.  Gwen loved animals, pop culture, keeping up with politics, news, and movies.  She enjoyed history, and was very knowledgeable about world events.  Playing cards with her husband was a favorite pastime of Gwen’s, as well as listening to mystery theatre with her son, and completing crossword puzzles.  Gwen was proud of her grandkids and loved spending time with her family.

Gwen is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert; son Robert (Joleen) Hyde; grandchildren Beau Allen and Jack Hyde, all of Redwood Falls; nieces and nephews: Sue Altman, John Peterson, Paul Peterson, and Shari Kirkham; and many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Jerry Peterson.
