Doody-JamesJames Robert Doody age 73 of Redwood Falls, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Redwood Area Hospital.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. and a Rosary service to follow.  Visitation will then continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.  Interment is in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

James Robert Doody was born February 6, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Edward and Delores (Rose) Doody.  He attended school in Chicago, and received a degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Illinois.  Jim entered the United States Army May 18th 1959 and served as a Specialist 4th Class as a Radar man in West Germany.  He received his Honorable Discharge May 15, 1962.  He was a proud descendant of two American Revolutionary Veterans.  One served in the Washington Navy, and the other in the Virginia Militia.  Following his service, Jim returned to Chicago.  On February 2, 1963, James was united in marriage to Roberta Lewis at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Chicago.  Together the couple moved to Minnesota in 1984, and settled in Redwood Falls in 1990.  Jim worked as a Systems Analyst at Zytec until his retirement in 2007.  Jim was a dedicated family man, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He often took them to the Aquatic Center.  He was a proud member of Silver Sneakers, and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.  Jim loved being outdoors, gardening and going for walks.  He also enjoyed bowling and dancing.

Jim is survived by his wife Roberta of 50 years; he was a proud parent of Edward (Kris) Doody of Homer Glen, IL, Wendy (Andy) Kleimola of Chula Vista, CA, Colleen (Les) Goldeman of East Bethel, Cathy (Mike) Pettis of Redwood Falls, and Robert James (Kimberly) Doody of Big Bend, SD; grandchildren: Allison Doody, John & Joey Kleimola, Emma, Sydney & Alexis Goldeman, and Jacob & Josh Pettis; sister Elaine Pack of Chicago, IL; and many other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.
