Jim Olhausen Jim L. Olhausen age 78 of Willmar passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4 at the American Legion Hanscom Post 167 in Willmar. Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Legion. Burial is in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery in Redwood Falls at a later date. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Jimmy Lee Olhausen was born June 20, 1936 in Hartley, Iowa to Everett and Mona (Gillespie) Olhausen. He graduated from Sutherland High School in Iowa in 1954. In July 1957 Jim enlisted in the US Air Force and served as an airplane mechanic. He spent two years in France and was honorably discharged in July 1963. Jim owned a resort and co-owned Action Real Estate in Alexandria for several years. He did custom framing and owned a wildlife art gallery in Grand Rapids and Willmar. On October 5, 1984 Jim married Monique Samyn in Willmar. He worked as a real estate broker in Willmar for many years before starting Olhausen Realty. Jim was a member of the NRA, VFW and American Legion, and Elk’s Club for a number of years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved going to the trap range, skeet shooting, fishing, and duck hunting. Jim enjoyed playing horseshoes and cards, especially gin rummy. He was a sports fan who enjoyed going to games and watching the Green Bay Packers. Jim loved grilling for family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife Monique of 30 years; children: Kim (Tom) Morris of Cokato, Tony (Paula) of Forest Hills, MD, and Brent (Kim) of Garfield; 8 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and his pets Toby and Cooper. He is also survived by his brothers Keith (Norma) Olhausen of Cherokee, IA and Lyle Olhausen of Spirit Lake, IA; sister-in-law Ardine Olhausen of Southerland, IA; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert, sister-in-law Linda Olhausen, and niece Natasha Olhausen.

    I am so sorry to hear of my fathers passing! I hope that you have many close friends in the area to support you in this time of need.

    My family and I are leaving for Arizona for a few days and we will not be able to attend the funeral service for you and Jim.
