Steve Ewen Johnson age 62 of Dovray passed away unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. 

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray. 

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Westbrook Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.  Interment is in Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery.  The Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Steve Ewen Johnson was born September 18, 1948 in Slayton, Minnesota to Marlowe and Amy (Ewen) Johnson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Dovray.  Steve served in the Tracy National Guard.  On October 28, 1967 he was united in marriage to Suellen Severson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.  Together the couple made their home on the family farm south of Dovray where they’ve resided since.  Steve farmed for many years.  He was very active in church, including serving on church council and as president.  Steve was a Murray County Commissioner from 1998-2004.  Since 2004, he worked as a dispatcher for the Murray County Sheriff’s Department.  Steve was the treasurer of the Dovray American Legion.  He was a life member of the NRA, and also was a member of the Sioux Falls Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.  He also served on the Des Moines Township Board.  Steve enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and watching racing and the outdoor life channel on TV.  He had several collections, and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his wife Suellen of 43 years; children: Mark Johnson of Maplewood, Rachel (Jeff) Christians of Westbrook, and Katie (Jason) Steen of Westbrook; grandchildren: Lindsay, Walker, Wyatt, Halle, and Macie; great-grandchild Kaiden; siblings: John R. (Elaine) Johnson of Currie, Sandra Grams of Storden, and Craig (Bernie) Johnson of Prior Lake; and many other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Luverne Johnson.
