Joyce Elaine (Alstad) Clausen was born June 19, 1929 in Minneapolis to Earl and Ellen (Johnson) Alstad.  She graduated from South High School in 1947.  Joyce met her sweetheart, Jerry Clausen, and they were married November 10, 1950.  In 1957 Jerry and Joyce moved their young family to Redwood Falls.  Joyce worked for William’s Studio, and was a bookkeeper for Farm Wholesale, MBC Supply, and Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.  After retirement she worked part-time at Treonne’s, which she enjoyed so much.  After Jerry passed away in 1997, Joyce moved to Homestead Coop where she lived until the time of her death.  Joyce enjoyed her years of girl time with her high school friends, her group at 500 and hobby club. She loved crossword puzzles and did lots of crocheting. Her joy was her children, granddaughter, and 4 great grandkids that made her golden years truly golden.  Joyce was a strong woman who never judged people, believed every person has good in them, and smiled even when her loads were heavy. She showed love in everything she did.

Joyce is survived by her son David of Wyoming, MN; daughter Jan, of Redwood Falls; granddaughter Meghan Baumgartner of Alexandria; great grandchildren Tyler (10), Hailie (8), Ava (5) and Mia (5) Baumgartner of Alexandria; sister Shirley Frith of Edina; brother and sister-in-law Richard and Julie Alstad of Walker; nieces: Jacqui Koskovich, Christine Hazen, Constance Alstad, Barbara Williams, Cindy Egertson, and Cathleen Alstad.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jerry, and brother in-in-law Dick Frith.

  1. Heaven is smiling though our hearts are heavy. Aunt Joyce was ALWAYS making us smile and laugh, even to the end. I will miss her terribly.
