Joseph Carl Klann age 45 of Morton, formerly of Stewartville, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 20, 2011 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda.

Visitation is 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday AT THE CHURCH with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m..  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Friday.  Interment is in St. Mathias Catholic Cemetery in Wanda.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joseph Carl Klann was born March 8, 1966 in Marquette, MI to Eugene and Ruth (Gotz) Klann.  He graduated from Stewartville High School in 1984.  Joe enlisted in the US Army in 1984 and served at Fort Dix, NJ.  He taught chemical warfare at West Point during his service and was honorably discharged in 1988.  On June 15, 1990 Joe was united in marriage to Kelly Rohlik at St. Mathias Catholic Church in Wanda.  He returned to Mankato to further his education, and received an Engineering Degree from Mankato State in 1994.  Joe joined the National Guard for 2 years.  After his schooling he moved to Morton where he has resided since.  Joe began working with Zytec and Artesyn before he managed the paint and sheet metal department at the Redwood Falls division of Daktronics.  He was a member of St. Mathias Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls.  Joe loved inventing and working on his inventions.

Joe is survived by his wife Carolyn (Kelly); children: Daniel, William, Rebecca, Thomas, and Sarah; parents Eugene and Ruth Klann of Stewartville; siblings: Karen (Wayne) Volkart of Stewartville; Chuck (Amy) Klann of Lodi, WI; Susan (Jeff) Owen of St. Peter; Ken (Lucinda) Klann of Grant, Jeanine (Doug) Brieske of Tomah, WI, Jennifer (Trevor) Burke of North Liberty, IA; and Amanda Klann of Minneapolis; mother and father-in-law Richard and Elaine Rohlik of Wanda; and numerous other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents Eugene Sr. and Clara Klann, and Louis and Elsie Gotz.
