Harold B. Lohre was born December 29, 1926 on the family farm in Storden Township, Cottonwood County, to Eddie and Elvina (Nelson) Lohre.  He was baptized and confirmed at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church where he remained a member until joining Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook.  Harold attended Highwater Country School and Storden High School.  He joined the US Navy on December 24, 1944 and trained as a Signalman, serving in the Marshall Islands in the South Pacific.  He was honorably discharged from the Navy on June 3, 1946 and returned to rural Storden to start farming.  On September 4, 1955 Harold was united in marriage to Jean Nelson at Trinity Lutheran Church, Westbrook.  They continued to reside on the farm until 1991 when they moved to Westbrook and Harold retired in 1994.  As a child, Harold enjoyed playing in the family orchard with his siblings.  He loved to go bird shooting and often shot and cooked up a dove for himself to eat.  Other hobbies included fishing, telling stories, playing cards, and spending time with immediate and extended family.  A highlight for Harold was going on the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in the fall of 2010.

Harold is survived by his wife Jean; children Carma (Rick) Nordahl, Sheldon, IA and Todd Lohre of St. Paul; grandchildren Laurie, Callie and Graden Nordahl; siblings Lucille (Howard) Christensen of Lamberton, Leonard Lohre of Lamberton, Zola (Lyle) Wood of Windom, Darlene (Earl) Arfsten of Storden, Muriel Link of Windom, Joann Shaw of Dovray, Evelyn Lohre of Windom, and Lee (Ginny) Lohre of Augusta, GA; many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Elvern and Effie.  Harold was a gentle, kind man with a good sense of humor.  He loved the Lord and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
