Lorraine CooremanLorraine J. Cooreman age 97 of Balaton, formerly of Tracy, passed away on Friday, August 31, 2018 at the Colonial Manor in Balaton.  A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2018 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Interment is in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lorraine was born May 10, 1921 on the family farm in Roberts County, South Dakota to Ralph & Laura (Anderson) Hansen.  She attended elementary school in South Dakota.  Lorraine then moved to Tracy to live with her grandparents so that she could attend high school.  She began cleaning houses and babysitting while she was in school to pay her own expenses.  In 1940, Lorraine graduated from Tracy High School.  On October 10, 1940, Lorraine was united in marriage to Joseph Cooreman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  Lorraine loved living on the farm, and stayed home to help with the farm work and to raise her children.  She liked to wallpaper and paint.  Lorraine was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she served on the CCW.  She also was a member of the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and was a Gold Star Mother.  Lorraine belonged to the Twin Lakes Club.  They would make gifts for the Veterans.  She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, playing cards, and dancing.  They would go to polka dances all around the area.  She also liked to travel, and enjoyed trips to Disney World in Florida and to visit relatives in Oregon.  They also took annual fishing trips every summer. Lorraine loved fishing off the launch.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Ruth Ann Sanders of Tracy, Joe (Carol) Cooreman of Balaton, & Barbara Cooreman of Tracy; grandchildren: Jeff, Anita, Paul, Raymond & Arika, Kathryn, Sidonie & Leah, Mike & Mark; 29 great grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, son Raymond who was killed in Vietnam, sister Elaine, brother Ralph, grandchildren: Dawn, Robert & Joseph and a great granddaughter Emma.
