Willard “Bud” MischkeWillard “Bud” Mischke age 90 of Westbrook passed away Saturday, January 22, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Westbrook Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.

Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the services at the church.  Interment is in the Westbrook Cemetery.  The Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Willard “Bud” Mischke was born on July 18, 1920, in Westbrook Township to August and Louisa (Eichner) Mischke. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook, confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Ann Township, and graduated in 1938 from Walnut Grove High School. On March, 20, 1946, Bud married Janet Roemer. He farmed southeast of Walnut Grove, east of Revere, and in 1958 purchased the family farm northeast of Westbrook where he remained the rest of his life. In addition to farming, Bud worked as township and town assessor, as a field tiler, and as a carpenter & woodworker.

Bud enjoyed riding horses and was a long-time member of the Plum Creek Saddle Club. He was active in his church and community, serving as church president and council member, a member of Cottonwood County DFL, Farmer’s Union, and NFO.

Bud died peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the age 90 years, 6 months and 4 days. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Janet; his 5 sons: Larry (Susan); Richard (Kathleen); Jay (Julie); David (Judy); and Lee (Lisa); a sister Gloria Jacobs; grandchildren: Matthew (Heather), Michael (Katie), Mark, Tina (Terry)  Schenk, Tara Matson, Ann (Mark) Morgan, Luke (Alison), Katie (Patrick) Slack, Kelsey, and Kaylee; and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Marvin. Blessed be his memory.
