Orville Eugene Moat

Orville Eugene Moat age 83 of Garvin passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Sanford Tracy Hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Tracy Area Funeral Home with interment in the Modum Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Saturday.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Orville Eugene Moat was born May 27, 1928 on the family farm in Murray County to Harvey and Martha (Anderson) Moat.  He attended country school near Balaton.  After his schooling, Orville served in the US Navy and later the US Army.  He was stationed in Virginia three times.  Following his service, Orville returned to the Garvin area.  Orville helped many area farmers, and also worked as a painter and custodian for many years.  He was a jack of all trades.  In his spare time, Orville enjoyed gardening.
Orville is survived by his wife Donna of 28 years; daughter Martha Moat of Garvin; grandchildren: Sara, Matthew, Carter & Rhianna (on the way).  He is also survived by his sisters Ardyce Johnson of Tracy and Arlene Johansen of Slayton; brother Wayne Moat of Silver Bay, MN and many other relatives and friends.  Preceding him in death are his parents, and siblings: Audrey Lohrach, Roger Moat, Harlan Moat, Orlan Moat, and Alice Falin.
