Edna NisselEdna Nissel, age 98 of Wabasso passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Wabasso.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 11 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wabasso.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church and will continue one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.  Interment is in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Lucan.  The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Edna (Lee) Nissel was born September 8, 1911, in Norway, to Severt and Jennie (Rgy) Lee.  She was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Milroy and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lucan.  She attended country school through the 8th grade.  On September 4, 1937, Edna was united in marriage to Willie Nissel at the parsonage in Milroy.  Together the couple farmed until the early 70’s and moved into Wabasso in 1977.  Edna worked for the meal site for many years.  She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lucan where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies’ Aid.  Edna enjoyed reading, fancy work, and making bread and buns.  She entered the Wabasso Health Care Center on August 1, 2005 where she resided until her death.

Edna is survived by her daughter Janet (Ken) Wotschke of Wabasso; 3 grandchildren: Darcee (Tim) Bauman of Olivia, Wendy Wotschke of Vesta, and Bruce (Shelly) Wotschke of Vesta; 6 great-grandchildren: Melissa, Nicholas, and Curtis Bauman, and Mike, Dan, and Jennie Wotschke; and one sister Sylvia Meyer of Chanhassen.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Willie; brother George Lee in the service; sister Dora Lee in infancy; sisters: Dagna Wurscher and her husband Floyd, Alma Stage and her husband Edwin; and brother-in-law Robert Meyer.
