Yvonne Annette Ostermeier age 73 of Franklin, formerly of Redwood Falls and the Lower Sioux Community, died peacefully on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Franklin.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church. Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Interment is in Morton City Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service - Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Yvonne Ostermeier was born June 18, 1939 in Pipestone, MN to Ariella (DeGroat) and Clarence Leith. She was baptized October 3, 1939 and confirmed June 1, 1953 at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church. Yvonne attended Bishop Whipple Mission School on the Lower Sioux (“The Little Red School House”). As a young girl she participated in Traditional dance and continued to look forward to being an active spectator of all the Traditional gatherings. On December 27, 1972 she was united in marriage to Gordon W. Ostermeier in South Dakota. Yvonne was the proud mother of a daughter whom she named Daneilla Karen. She made her home in Redwood Falls where she worked at the DAC as well as other employment in the area. Yvonne entered the Golden Living Center in Franklin in 2000. Gordy and Yvonne were King and Queen of the nursing home for the Catfish Derby Days celebration. Gordy passed away October 3, 2005. Yvonne continued living at the nursing home until she passed away. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, music and dancing, especially old time music. Yvonne loved going to church and playing Bingo at the Living Center.
Yvonne is survived by her daughter Daneilla (Mark) Bidinger of Redwood Falls; grandchildren Miranda Elizabeth (Darren) Sam and Mitchell Anthony (Michelle) Farmer; and great grandchildren: Jada Annette Farmer-Pendleton, Dyami Travis Sam, Dareon Karen Ann Sam, and Braya Elle Farmer. She is also survived by siblings: Audrey F. (Francis) Haas of Morton, Clarence Albert Leith Jr. of the Lower Sioux, and Thomas John (Michelle) Leith Sr. of Redwood Falls; nieces and nephews: Dagmar Hoff (fiancé Mark), Dana (Jason) Nelson, Kelly Leith, Kelly Prescott, Tom Jr., Charles, Marcus, and Ariella Leith; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Blessed be her memory.
