Olga Muetzel Olga Evelyn Muetzel, age 93 of Redwood Falls, formerly of Belview, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Seasons Hospice in Redwood Falls.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 21 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.  Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home.  Burial is in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Sheridan Township.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church or School, or Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Olga Evelyn (Olson) Muetzel was born December 31, 1922 in Porter, Minnesota to Olaf and Inga (Arneson) Olson.  She was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Porter.  Olga attended District 34 country school, rural Porter, and graduated in 1940 from Canby High School.  Olga was united in marriage to Gilbert Muetzel on June 29, 1941 at St. John’s Lutheran Church parsonage in Sheridan Township, Belview.  Together they farmed and maintained a dairy herd.  Olga enjoyed baking, gardening, taking pictures, and scrapbooking.  Her hobbies consisted of sewing, embroidery work, camping, and fishing.  She was active in church and ladies aid activities, extension group, and the Country Clubbers 4-H Club.  Gilbert and Olga enjoyed spending winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.  She also especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and family gatherings with her extended family.  After moving off the farm, they purchased their home in Redwood Falls in 1992.  Olga moved into an apartment at Garnette  Gardens in November 2010 where she met many new friends and enjoyed the activities offered there.

Olga is survived by her children: Brenda (Arlon) Pless of South Haven, Karen (Harlan) Lemcke of Vesta, and Denise (Donald) Wellner of Springfield; grandchildren: Scott Pless, Kelley (Chris) Hardtke, Jeffrey (Anne) Lemcke, Jennifer (Marty) Caplinger, Mark (Carrie) Wellner, Tim, Amy, and Joel Wellner; great grandchildren: Katelyn and Erica Hardtke, Hannah and Rachel Bredlau, Avery and Cole Caplinger, and Chase and Charlotte Wellner; sister Alta Heise; brother Silas (Rose) Olson; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilbert in 2004, infant son, infant great granddaughter Grace Wellner, and brother-in-law Eldon “Bud” Heise.

  4. Gilbert is my grandfather’s (Gerhardt) brother. He and my grandmother, Florence often spoke about Gilbert and Olga. So sorry for your loss.
