Oma E. OlsonOma E. Olson, age 73 of Morton passed away peacefully Sunday, November 8, 2009 surrounded by her family.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 13 at the Morton United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.  Interment is in the Morton City Cemetery.  The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Oma E. (Rachel) Olson was born October 4, 1936 in Flatwoods, Louisiana to Henry and Evia (Edwards) Rachel.  She was united in marriage to Elwood Olson in Virginia, Minnesota in 1956.  To this union, two children; Randy and Brenda, were born.  On October 10, 1987, Oma married Harry Wahldick in Spicer, Minnesota.  Oma was a member of the Morris VFW and American Legion auxiliaries, and the Morton Lioness Club.  She loved all sports, and loved watching and listening to the Twins and Vikings play.  Cooking, baking, gardening, and canning were a few of Oma’s passions.  She spent her free time at the lake near Spicer, and loved to go fishing.  Oma enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and throwing darts.  She loved all of her animals, especially her dog.  Oma was the type of person that would do anything for anyone, and always worried about everyone but herself.

Oma is survived by her husband of 22 years, Harry Wahldick of Morton; children: Randy (Marybeth) Olson of Amboy, MN, Brenda of St. Paul, MN, stepchildren: Mike Wahldick of Franklin, MN, Nancy Billmeier of Redwood Falls, MN, Mark Wahldick of Franklin, MN, and Patti (Roger) Jenniges of Springfield, MN; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother Henry Jr. “Buddy” (Anne) Rachel of Louisiana; and many other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister Mabel.
