Pearl was born May 30, 1932 at home in Echo Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota to Leo and Verna (Marotzke) Kreft. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Pearl attended country schools through the 8th grade and graduated from Milroy High School in 1950. On September 23, 1950, Pearl was united in marriage to Orville Kuehn at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Vesta. Following their wedding, they farmed east of Vesta until 1966 when they moved to a farm near Belview. Pearl and Orville were blessed with four children: Judy, Lonnie, Joyce, and Janice. Orville passed away April 11, 1981. She continued living on the farm. On May 5, 1986, Pearl married Andy Anderson in Sioux Falls. Together the couple lived and farmed near Belview until 2000 when they moved to Redwood Falls. Pearl helped farm side by side with both of her husbands, which she loved to do. Pearl loved her Savior and served him by being a very active member of her church. She taught Sunday school at St. John’s in Vesta and later at St. John’s in Sheridan Township, where she also was the organist and served on the ladies aid.  Pearl enjoyed sewing, especially making quilts for all of her grandchildren. She loved to polka dance with Andy. The joy of her life was when her family visited her.

Pearl is survived by her husband Andy of nearly 30 years; daughters: Judy (Darwin) Pless of Redwood Falls, Joyce (Rick) Herman of Green Bay, WI, and Janice (Eugene) Iverson of Parrish, FL; grandchildren: Justin (Nicole) Pless, Kristen Pless (Dan Schutte), Katherine (Nicholas) Brozek; Amanda Exferd, and Holly (Franky) Koval; and Sally (Chad) Hansen and Jesse (Melisa) Heiling; nine great grandchildren; sister Darlene (Marlin) Kuehn; brother Floyd (LaVonne) Kreft; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Orville, parents, and son Lonnie.

  3. To Pearl’s family:
Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of someone so dear and so wonderful. Words can barely express the unconditional love, kindness and support that Pearl has given to me and my family over the years. She touched lives in a way that will never be forgotten! Her many strong character traits are ones that have portrayed an example of love, forgiveness, self-sacrifice, determination and yes tenacity. Over the years she lived out these defining qualities that we all can/should learn from. Even in her later years she would say, with good humor, things like “getting old isn’t for sissies…” when experiencing health challenges. But she was strong and determined and with the support of her daughters, their families and particularly of such a great husband like Andy, she kept going. Please know that Pearl’s legacy will live on in our hearts, forever.
