Joyce Ardell Prahl, age 76, of Redwood Falls passed away Monday, April 18 at Wood Dale Nursing Home while under hospice care.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.  Interment is in Redwood Falls Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joyce Ardell Prahl was born January 10, 1935 on the family farm in Lamberton Township to William J. and Ella H. (Vollmer) Moody.  She graduated from Lamberton High School in 1953.  On July 4, 1953 Joyce was united in marriage to James Richard Prahl at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Lamberton.  They made their home on the family farm six miles west of Redwood Falls from 1953 through 2005.  Joyce was a farm wife and mother of six children.  She grew cucumbers and raised chickens.  Joyce worked at Morgan’s Bakery for three years, at J.C. Penney’s for five years, and for Zytec/Artesyn for 15 years retiring in 2000.  She lived at Garnette Gardens from 2006-2007, at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center from 2007-2009, at Golden Living Center in Olivia from 2009-2011, and at Wood Dale Nursing Home since April 2011.  Joyce enjoyed cooking, gardening, tracing family ancestry, and going for walks.  She loved watching and supporting her children and grandchildren’s activities.

Joyce is survived by her husband James Richard Prahl of Redwood Falls; children: Bradley (Nancy) Prahl, Jon Prahl, Sandra (Steven) Heiling, all of Redwood Falls, and Susan (Rory) Seifert of Clements; grandchildren: Krista (Jesse) Remiger, David Prahl, Kevin Prahl, Kelsey Prahl, Stacy (Grant) Brostrom, Calvin Heiling, Tessa Heiling, Joseph Seifert, and Amanda (Josh) Krenz; great grandchildren: Morgan Strey, Jayden Remiger, and Alexa Remiger; brothers Bill (Faye) Moody of Alexandria and Roger (Karen) Moody of Long Lake; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents William and Ella Moody, children Steve and Howard Prahl, sister Jean Sirmer and husband Richard Sirmer, sister-in-law Malinda Siegfried, and brother-in-law Virgil Prahl and wife Sylvia Prahl.
