Leslie W. Prescott

Leslie Wayne Prescott age 67 of the Lower Sioux Community made his journey to the spirit world on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Seasons Hospice in Redwood Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10 at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church, Lower Sioux Community.

Visitation will be Thursday 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday at 9:00 a.m. at the church hall.  Interment is in St. Cornelia’s Cemetery.   The Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Leslie Wayne Prescott was born September 19, 1943 in Pipestone, Minnesota to Albert and Evelyn (Goodthunder) Prescott.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Cornelia’s Episcopal Church.  Leslie attended school at Bishop Whipple Mission and later Morton High School.  He was united in marriage to Lana Larsen in 1964.  Together they had two sons, Todd and Tim Prescott.  Leslie had a variety of jobs in the area including working for Redwood County Highway Department and Jackpot Junction.  In 1979, he met Brenda Gehrke.  They were married July 30, 1999 in South Dakota.  Together they had two sons, Robert in 1981 and Randal in 1982.  Leslie served as Lower Sioux Tribal Council Member for a number of years.  He enjoyed taking care of his horses, tinkering on cars and equipment, mowing his lawn, going for car and 4-wheeler rides, and country music.  He loved spending time with his family especially his grandkids.  Leslie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed practical jokes.

Leslie is survived by his wife Brenda, sons Robert (Jessica Kosel) Prescott of the Lower Sioux and Randal of Morton; stepsons Chad (Angie) Gehrke and Chris (Michelle) Gehrke, all of Redwood Falls; grandchildren: David, Mary, Dillon, Bailey, Aarik, Tucker, Rozlyn, Evelyn, Adrian, Lucian and Fenton; great grandchildren: David, Lennon, and Isaac “Duza”; siblings: Jerome (Carol) of the Lower Sioux, Gary (Diane) of Redwood Falls, Deb (Fr. John) Robertson of the Lower Sioux, Greg (Jolene) of Morton, Don (Ann) of the Lower Sioux, and Denny (Chel) of Redwood Falls; aunt Barb Prescott of St. Paul; and many other relatives and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, sons Tim and Todd, and brothers Roger and Mick.  Blessed be his memory.
