Dorothy M. Riddell age 80 of Worthington, formerly of Westbrook, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2010 at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Westbrook Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home Thursday.  Interment will be held at a later date at the Westbrook Cemetery.  The Westbrook Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Dorothy Riddell was born March 18, 1929 in Slayton, MN to Walter and Inga (Amundson) Riddell.  She was baptized and confirmed at English Lutheran Church in Westbrook.  She attended country school district 105 near Westbrook.  On December 18, 1947, Dorothy was united in marriage to LaVerne M. Bauer in Westbrook.  She lived the majority of her married life in Marshall.  Dorothy had two daughters Margaret and Barbara.  Later in life, Dorothy returned to school to complete her GED.  She attended Marshall High School in the 10th grade, while her daughter Margaret was in the 8th grade at the same school.  She later received her GED in Mankato where she lived for a couple years.  Dorothy then lived in Anoka for a year before returning to Mankato. She later returned to Westbrook to care for her aging parents.  Following their deaths, Dorothy moved to Worthington where she’s resided since.  Dorothy was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, the Democratic Party and Groundswell.  Dorothy enjoyed crocheting, singing, reading and travelling around the United States.  She also enjoyed daytrips to the casino, and writing letters to the editor.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Margaret Burns of Worthington; two nephews Timothy Bauer of Worthington and Joseph Bauer of Minneapolis; and several other relatives and a host of friends.  Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, sister Florence, daughter Barbara, and grandson Robert.
