Robbins, VeloraVelora “Maxine” Robbins age 90 of Tracy passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Prairie View Senior Living in Tracy.  Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23 at the funeral home with a 6:45 p.m. prayer service.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Tracy City Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to the Willow Lake Preservation Society.  Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com.  Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Velora Maxine (Vik) Robbins was born July 30, 1923 to Holiver and Agnes (Mickelson) Vik.  She was born in Ellsborough Township, Murray County, Minnesota.  As a youth, she attended country school District 48.  The family lived in Lake Wilson for a few years before moving to the Tracy area.  Maxine graduated from Tracy High School in 1942.  She worked various occupations before her marriage to Robert Robbins in 1944.  Robert and Maxine lived on the family farm for 32 years.  During that time, they raised two sons, Ronald Robbins and David Robbins.  In 1976, Robert and Maxine moved into Tracy.  Maxine worked at the Tracy Municipal Hospital for many years until her retirement.  Maxine was active in the Willow Lake Lutheran Church holding various positions as Sunday School teacher and active in the “Ladies’ Aid.”  She loved to make quilts.

Maxine is survived by her sons, Ronald (Joyce) Robbins and David Robbins, all of Tracy; grandsons: Ray (LeAnn) Robbins, Dan (Susan) Robbins, Patrick (Jami) Robbins; granddaughter, Crystal Faye (Matt) Buesking; 8 great-grandchildren: Matthew Ray, Christina Ray, Marie Robbins, Emily Robbins, Sophia Buesking, Olivia Buesking, Hailey Jo Robbins and Isaac Robbins.  She is also survived by her siblings: Marvin (Lois) Vik, James (Jeannie) Vik, and Joyce Kruen; and sister-in-law Laurel Robbins Rea.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, two brothers: Arnold and Gordon Vik, and brothers-in-law: Duwayne J. Rea and Bob Kruen.

    Maxine was the quiet type, doing her job in the background. She had to be one of the longer residents of the O’Brien Court.

    There are 14 members of the Class of ’42 on my Email address list. They have all been notified. This includes spouses of class members who are deceased.

    We did not realize that she had such a large extended family! She will certainly be missed. A special to James Vik who was a singing partner in choir for a time.

    I want to give my condolences to the family. I was a class mate to Maxine in Tracy High School. Didn’t know her first name was Velora as she always went by Maxine,Donald Fogelson,Westbrook,Minnesota.
