Allen FrericksAllen “Al” Norbert Frericks, age 70 of Redwood Falls formerly of Lucan, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Redwood Area Hospital in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, August 6 at Redwood Valley Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. and Rosary to follow.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Cemetery in Lucan.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Allen Norbert Frericks was born December 5, 1947 to Norbert and Lorraine (Bernardy) Frericks in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith.  Al graduated from Wabasso High School and later enlisted in the National Guard.  On September 3, 1976, he married Deborah Schottenbauer at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso.  The couple made their home in Lucan for many years, until they recently moved to Redwood Falls.  Al owned and operated a Hardware Store in Lucan for eight years.  He later worked 21 years for Schwan’s as a parts manager.  Al enjoyed playing dice games at Gil-Mor Manor.  He loved watching Minnesota sports teams, especially the Twins.  Al enjoyed gardening and feeding and watching the birds.  He loved spending time with his family and their pets.

Allen is survived by his wife Deborah of Redwood Falls; children: Melissa Frericks of Sioux Falls, SD and John (Taylor Solie) Frericks of Morgan; siblings: Theresa (Dave) Kerkhoff of Redwood Falls, Glenn (Bev) Frericks of Surprise, AZ, and Jeff (Kathleen) Frericks of Colorado Springs, CO; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
