Anissa BarnesAnissa Barnes age 46 of Redwood Falls passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Sunday, September 21, 2014 at University of Minnesota Fairview Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Visitation is 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment is in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Anissa Julan (Thomas) Barnes was born September 18, 1968 in Whittier, California to Harry and Julie (Young) Thomas. She was baptized December 1968 in Whittier and confirmed May 2, 1982 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls. Anissa graduated from Redwood Falls High School. She married Kevin Church and in 1992 their son, Tyler, was born. Anissa lived her entire life in Redwood Falls. She was a loyal employee at Zytec, Artesyn, and Daktronics. Anissa was an avid sports fan who loved the Minnesota Wild, Twins, and Vikings. She enjoyed watching NASCAR and going to Brainerd International Raceway to watch the races. Anissa also loved music.

Anissa is survived by her son Tyler Church of Moorhead; mother Julie Thomas of Redwood Falls; brother Brent Thomas of Redwood Falls; nephew Nathan Thomas of Olivia; boyfriend Scott Schroeder of Redwood Falls who loved her and made her very happy; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Harry in March 1993, grandparents Shorty and Rose Young, and uncle Neil Young.
