Ruth Detlefsen

Ruth Detlefsen age 87 of Westbrook, formerly of Storden, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center in Westbrook. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1 at the Westbrook Funeral Home. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.  Interment is in the Westbrook Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

 Ruth (Nelson) Detlefsen was born February 14, 1924 in Tracy, Minnesota to Oscar and Esther (Krogh) Nelson.  She was united in marriage to Ernest Einertson, and to this union 3 children were born.  Later, Ruth married Leo Detlefsen.  Ruth loved preparing family meals, and was an excellent Grandma.  She enjoyed fishing, quilting, and gardening – especially raising flowers.

Ruth is survived by her children: Rosemary (Merle) Willemssen of Westbrook, Jean (William) Winterfield of Big Lake, and Patricia (Steve) Sigford of Duluth; stepson Dan Thompson of Eagan; grandchildren: Mark Willemssen, Candace (Gary) Oie, Troy (Lisa) Winterfield, Cynthia Sanborn, Tad (Andi) Winterfield, Tim Spielman, Kim (Kevin) Schmidt, and Joshua (Karen) Spielman; and 14 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by her siblings: Howard (Enie) Nelson of Westbrook, Betty Myer of Hillsdale, MI, Richard (Dee) Nelson of Plainview, MN, David Nelson, and Bob Nelson of Hutchinson; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ernest and Leo, stepson Kenneth Detlefsen, grandsons Paul and Matthew Willemssen, great-granddaughter Cassie Oie, and sisters: Juleen, Jeanette, Carol, and Janice.
