Dixie GatfieldDixie Gatfield age 87 of Redwood Falls, formerly of Detroit, MI, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Wood Dale Nursing Home in Redwood Falls.  At Dixie’s request, no services will be held.   Memorials are preferred to the Humane Society.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dixie Fay (Bell) Gatfield was born August 3, 1926 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to William Eules and Ethel Frances (Winfrey) Bell.  She was baptized as a member of the Church of Christ.  Dixie graduated from Fordson High School in Michigan.  On April 3, 1947 Dixie married Edward Carl Gatfield.  Dixie loved reading and doing jigsaw and logic puzzles.  She had a remarkable voice and sang in various church choirs.  She was very interested in the history of England and loved eating all kinds of chocolate.  Dixie enjoyed traveling and lived many different places throughout her life.

Dixie is survived by her children: Edward “Ted” (Karen) Gatfield of Redwood Falls, and Ida Gatfield (Rick Farmer) of Morton; grandchildren: Edward, Tiffany, Hillary, William, Jonathan, and Bethany Gatfield, Candace Osborne, and Shelby Farmer; great-grandchildren: Kyara and Emmanuel Gatfield; and brother Larrimore Bell of Haverhill, NH.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Edward, infant daughter Dixie, and her much loved cats: Patrick Henry, Fluffy, Cassie, and Prince.

    Ida, we’re holding you in our hearts and praying that you have peace in yours – that special calm that comes only from God’s grace. He is with you always, and we’ll see you in church soon.
