Donald Charles Watkins was born December 2, 1938 to Rollie and Carrie (Wilcox) Watkins.  He grew up near Redwood Falls on the family farm.  Don graduated in 1956 from Redwood High School where he participated in wrestling and went to state.  On November 14, 1959 Don married Karen Postolka and they began their new life together.  First living near Bird Island where Don built implement trucks and eventually in Redwood Falls where he worked on transmissions for a car dealer. Olympia, Washington was their home for a few years while Donald was on active duty for the National Guard.  After returning to Minnesota Don purchased the scrap yard and a home in Seaforth. While the business went through many transformations over the years Don always loved making the deals.  During his retirement Donny spent his time gardening (he loved sharing his produce with family and friends), restoring tractors, cutting and splitting wood, taking care of his wife, and visiting family and friends.  Mostly he enjoyed being with his family.  Recently he enjoyed taking care of ‘the boys’ and sharing his cooking skills.

Don is survived by children: Beverly (Tim) Morgan of Rochester, Cindy Green of Chanhassen, and Todd (Jeri) Watkins of Seaforth; grandchildren: Miranda (Matt) Morgan Lilla, Taralee Morgan, Ramsey, Parker, and Tres Green, and Josey and Andy Watkins; siblings Harriet Jensen and Lucille Nelson of Redwood Falls and John (Carol) Watkins of Montgomery AL; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is preceded in death by his wife Karen, daughter Tammy, his parents, and twin sister Dorothy.

So sorry to hear of Don’s passing. Always enjoyed his many stories whenever he came into the store for
filters or hydraulic hoses for the yard equipment.
