Cohrs_DorisDoris Jeanne Cohrs age 83 of Dovray passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Westbrook.

Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Westbrook Funeral Home with a prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial is in Our Saviors Lutheran Cemetery in Dovray. Online condolences may be sent via www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Doris Jeanne was born May 22, 1930 in Lindsay, NE to Fred and Agnes (Kurtenback) Beierman. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Family Church. Doris graduated from Holy Family Church School in 1948. She moved to Dovray to help her brother and sister-in-law. She met Donald Cohrs and they were married on March 2, 1950 in Yankton, SD. Doris worked at Rucker, AL while Donald was in the service. They returned to farm near Dovray for a year and then lived near Norfolk, NE where Doris worked at Mary’s Café. The couple returned to Dovray to farm for over 40 years. Donald retired in 1993 and they moved to town. Doris worked various places in the area including Rolling Hills Golf Club and T-Tommy’s Restaurant. She was a member of the Dovray Auxiliary where she served as 2nd District President. Doris was active in her church including CCW and helped at Our Saviors in Dovray whenever needed. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, hunting, and fishing. Doris loved cleaning, baking, catering, and being with people. She was well known for her potato salad and egg coffee. Doris also loved teasing and spoiling her grandkids and great grandkids.

Doris is survived by her children: Julie (Robert) Cohrs Barker of Jeffers, Darcy (Dave) Benson of Fargo, ND, Craig (Robin) Cohrs of Douglas, WY, and Shannon (Angie) Cohrs of Dovray; grandchildren: Rachael, Justin and Jordan Pudenz, Marcus, Heather, Josh, and Don Cohrs, Caleb and Felicia Cohrs, Chad, Mitch and Alex Benson; and 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings: Fred (Hope) Beierman of Moses Lake, WA, Dolly (Jim) Frazier of Phoenix, AZ, Carole Walker and Charlene (Fred) Suter, both of East Wenatchee, WA, and Jerry (Connie) Beierman of Grand Coulee, WA; brother-in-law Francis (Beverly) Cohrs of Westbrook; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, brothers Melvin, Don, Bill, Swede, and Jack, sisters Wilma German, Mary Ann Fischer, and Pat Stone, and sister-in-law Elaine Swart.

  1. Julie and family – I just learned of your Mom’s passing and I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. I remember your Mom (and Dad) from many moons ago and they were great fun loving people. My prayers are with you and your family.
