John “Jack” LeRoy Haney

John “Jack” LeRoy Haney age 67 of the Avoca area passed away Friday, September 3, 2010 at Avera McKennon Hospital in Sioux Falls. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Westbrook Funeral Home. 

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.  Interment is in the Westbrook Cemetery.  The Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

John Haney was born January 13, 1943 in Tracy, MN to John and Violet (Koser) Haney.  He was baptized at the Church of Christ in Worthington.  John attended school in Tracy until his freshman year.  He then attended school in Kensington, MN where he graduated in 1961.  After his schooling, John served in the US Army.  He lived in Kensington, Moorhead, Tracy, and Marshall before moving to the Avoca area.  John farmed for a short period of time, and later helped friends with their farms.  He worked for several trucking companies in the area, and enjoyed travelling across the country.  He enjoyed hunting in his younger years.  John also enjoyed cooking, gardening and freezing his produce from the garden.

John is survived by his sister Pauline Mann of Wisconsin; nieces and nephews: Angela Sims of Oregon, Michelle Krohn of South Dakota, Melissa Pelloquin of Wisconsin, Steve Mann of Kentucky & Paul Mann of Wisconsin; good friends Bob and Butch Olson both of Avoca, and many other friends.  He is preceded in death by his son John Haney III, father John Haney, mother Violet Brewer and sister Morene Guimond.
