Leslie “Les” Arnold Hoyt age 93 of Walnut Grove went to be with Jesus Monday, February 4, 2013 while surrounded by family at Sanford Tracy Medical Center.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 8 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Walnut Grove.  Visitation is 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.  Interment is in St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred to the Walnut Grove Area Foundation.  Stephens Funeral Service – Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. 

Leslie “Les” Arnold Hoyt was born February 22, 1919 in Cottonwood County, MN to Alfred and Charlotte (McArtor) Hoyt.  He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and confirmed at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.  Les attended country school District # 43.  He served in the United States Army as a Supply Sergeant during WWII.  On April 23, 1949, Les was united in marriage to Doris Kleven at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.  He operated the family business, Hoyt Oil & Auto, doing car repair and towing.  Les was a member of the Walnut Grove Lions Club, Walnut Grove Community Club, and served on the St. Olaf Church Council for many years.  He enjoyed mowing lawn, and working with flowers at the station and around the community.  Les volunteered for many years at the Laura Ingalls Wilder Pageant.  During retirement, he enjoyed wood carving with his childhood friends.  Les loved playing cards, especially Pinochle and 500.  

Les is survived by his wife Doris; children: Annette (Tom) Good of Staples, David (Wanda) Hoyt of Walnut Grove, Curtis (Bonnie) Hoyt of White Clay, NE, Bruce Hoyt of Brainerd, and James Hoyt of Williston, ND; grandchildren: Tony Good, Melissa (Joel) Stachovich, Trevor (Cassie) Good, Tim (Terah) Hoyt, Angela (Nathan) Anderson, Adam Hoyt, Jason Hoyt, and Beth Hoyt; great granddaughter Mackenzie Stachovich; brother Lauren Hoyt; sisters Lyla Henry and Roanne (Larry) Axdahl; and sister-in-law Janice Hoyt.  He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Myron and Alton, and Rosella Hoyt and Lena Hoyt.
