Maguire-KathleenKathleen Ida Maguire age 88 of Walnut Grove passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at Valley View Manor in Lamberton.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Walnut Grove.

Visitation is 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Interment is in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Kathleen was born July 21, 1924 in Holland, MN to Albert and Ida (Leopold) Dietz. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1942 and attended college in Mankato for teaching. On August 19, 1950 she was united in marriage to Rodney Maguire in Minneota. Kathleen graduated from Southwest State in Marshall in 1971 with her B.S. in education. She began her teaching career in Lake Wilson before moving to Walnut Grove to teach. Kathleen was principal of the all female operated school in Revere for several years before returning to Walnut Grove to finish her career retiring after 37 years. She enjoyed her retirement years. Kathleen was active on the Laura Ingalls Wilder committee. She was a member of the Holly Flower Club, 20th Century Women’s Club, Walnut Grove Auxiliary, and Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Circle. Kathleen was in a card club and enjoyed playing cards. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, and going camping.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Rodney of 62 years; children: Paul (Donna) Maguire of Roseboro, NC, Jocelyn (Tim) Wester of Westbrook, Peter (Faith) Maguire of Walnut Grove, Laurie (Justin) Jacobson of Detroit Lakes, and Rhonda (Jeff) Wilber of Sioux Falls, SD; 11 grandchildren: Patrick, Jared, Angie, Ben, Gretchen, Anthony, Nicki, Leslie, Zachary, Ashlee, and Lucas; 13 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers Clifford and Ivan Dietz.
