Friedley photoKevin E. Friedley age 55 of Mankato, formerly of Wabasso, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Burial is in Crestlawn Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kevin E. Friedley was born December 6, 1957 to Donald and Carol (Benson) Friedley in Redwood Falls, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Wabasso. Kevin attended elementary and high school in Wabasso, graduating in 1976. After high school, he attended Willmar Vocational Technical Institute in Willmar for two years. Years later, Kevin would go on to attend Metropolitan State University in the Twin Cities, graduating in 1992, and earning his Bachelors Degree. After graduating from Willmar AVTI, he worked as a bookkeeper in Redwood Falls and New Ulm. In December of 1985, he took a position as the Controller of Heinrich Envelope Corporation in Golden Valley, and worked there until 1999. Kevin then moved to Mankato, working at various jobs, most recently at Creative Company in North Mankato. He was united in marriage to Julie Brand on October 5, 1985 in Wanda. They made their home in Nicollet for a few months before moving to the Twin Cities. Together they had two children, Nicole and Nathan. Kevin enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and golfing. He loved listening to music and playing his guitar, drawing and painting, and cooking. Kevin also enjoyed sports and traveling with his children.

Kevin is survived by his children, daughter Nicole of Mankato and son Nathan of St. Peter; parents Donald and Carol Friedley of Wabasso; brother Lindsey (Sharon) Friedley of New Ulm; and many other relatives. He is preceded in death by his brother Terry in August 2007, maternal grandparents Conrad and Frieda Benson, and paternal grandparents Harvey and Mabel Friedley.
