Donald “Don” MacHoldaDonald “Don” John MacHolda age 86 of Redwood Falls passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center, surrounded by his wife and children.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday July 13 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday AT THE CHURCH with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.  Interment is in St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donald “Don” John MacHolda was born December 1, 1925 at home in Beaver Falls Township, Minnesota, to John and Mary (Dobias) MacHolda.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn.  Don attended country school through the 8th grade, and went on to graduate from Redwood Falls High School in 1943.  On January 19, 1953, Don married Rosemary Atkins at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Seaforth.  Don and Rosie raised six children on the farm in Henryville Township near Bechyn.  Don enjoyed farming, as well as raising chickens, pigs, and a few milk cows.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served on St. Mary’s church council, and as an usher.  Don enjoyed playing Schnauzel as well as visiting with family and friends.  He was always willing to help family, friends, or neighbors as working was his main hobby.  Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary “Rosie”; children: Sandra “Sandy” (John) Frank of Olivia, Donna MacHolda of Minneapolis, Bill (Sandy) MacHolda of Redwood Falls, Steve (Joleen) MacHolda of Redwood Falls, Teresa “Tessie” (Jeff) Wyffels of Madelia, Ann (Robert) Schimmel of Mankato; grandchildren: Ben Frank, Paula (Nicholas) Phelps, Kari (Nick) Pinsonneault, Adam MacHolda, Abby MacHolda, Derek MacHolda, Jenna MacHolda, Josh Wyffels, Jeremy Wyffels, Nicholas Schimmel, Jackelyn Schimmel; great-grandchildren Keelan Pinsonneault, Ella Pinsonneault, Jaiden Wyffels; and brother Ralph (Beverly) MacHolda of Edina.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and parents-in-law Bill & Thelma Atkins.  Blessed be his memory.
