Marge Ripperton Marjorie “Marge” D. Ripperton age 78 of Redwood Falls died in a motor vehicle accident on Monday, September 21, 2015. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Visitation is 5:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Interment is in the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home in Redwood Falls is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marge was born on March 31, 1937 in Morgan Township, the daughter of Edward and Margaret Hoover (Lienig). She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1955. She started her career at the Redwood Falls Hospital during her senior year of high school working part time in the business office. Upon graduation she continued working at the hospital. In the mid 1960’s she became Business Manager and Assistant Administrator until her retirement in 2002, after 45 years of service.

She was married to Richard Scoates for 28 years and they had 2 children. She married Porter Ripperton on January 2, 1993. Recently, Marge had traveled and enjoyed the companionship of Glenn Houtkooper, who also lost his life in the motor vehicle accident.

Marge was a caregiver to many of her family members. She was involved in the Rotary, church circle, Bible studies, etc. She enjoyed reading and attending book club.

She is survived by her children Deborah Disher (Michael) of Upsala and James Scoates (Jenny) of Redwood Falls; granddaughter Taunja Warga (Charles) and great grandchildren Kiely and Mason of Upsala, grandsons Josh Disher of Minneapolis and Todd Neegaard and great grandchildren Camren and Tevin of Maple Grove, and granddaughter Jennifer Flinn (Dugan) and great grandchildren McKenna, Caitlin and Deacon of Redwood Falls; stepchildren Douglas Ripperton (Patty) of Eagan, Beverly Kostreba of St. Paul, Barbara Ripperton of St. Paul, Paul Ripperton (Phuong) of Little Falls; and her brother Gary Hoover of Glenwood.

Marge is preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Margaret Hoover, special aunt Elsie Rhode, and her husband Porter Ripperton. Blessed be her memory.

  2. Our sympathy to Marge’s family. We’d see her and Porter in church and then her and Glenn. She was always smiley and friendly. May God surround the family of Marge with his loving arms and comfort. Blessed be her memory.
