Mark OlsemMark Olsem, age 56 of Minneapolis and formerly of Westbrook, died August 21, 2019 at Redeemer Health and Rehab in Minneapolis after a year-long battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 9, 2019 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Westbrook.  There will be a time to visit with family following the funeral at church.  Burial will be in the Westbrook Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mark Harold Olsem was born January 14, 1963 to the late Andrew and Margaret (Dorpinghaus) Olsem.  Mark was baptized and confirmed at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Westbrook.  He received his early education in Westbrook and then graduated from St. John’s prep school in Collegeville.  As a young man, Mark moved to Phoenix, Arizona and found work as a carpenter.  When he returned home, he worked at Fulda Turkey Ranch and Hustin Meats in Chandler.  He then moved back to Arizona for a few years before moving to Willmar, Minnesota where he worked at Jennie-O Turkey Plant.  Lastly, he moved to St. Louis Park when his health deteriorated.  Mark loved watching the Vikings, Twins, and playing cards.

Mark is survived by his brothers: Paul, Jerome, and James, all of Fulda, Fr. Andrew of Mankato, Gene of Dundee, Arthur and Daniel of Westbrook; sisters: Rose Freking of Heron Lake, Ruth Ann Kastner of Elmore, Marietta Bartosh of Heron Lake; sister-in-law Mary Olsem of Dundee; many cousins; nephews; nieces; other relatives and friends.  Mark is preceded in death by his father Andrew Olsem, mother Margaret Kuemper, stepfather Lawrence Kuemper, 2 sisters: Josephine Thiner and Madonna Hullerman, and 1 brother Raymond Olsem.
