neuman_marvinMarvin Hubert Neumann, age 96 of Lamberton passed away Monday, July 8, 2013 at Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Wabasso.

Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Interment is in St. Matthew’s Cemetery. Marvin Hubert Neumann was born November 4, 1916 in Waterbury Township, Redwood County, Minnesota, to Otto and Hulda (Wichman) Neumann. Marvin was baptized at St. Matthew’s country church and was also confirmed there on June 14, 1931. He attended Waterbury country school. When Marvin was 18 years old, his father passed away and Marvin took over the family farm. On April 14, 1944, Marvin married Delouras Luescher at New Avon Salem Church. Together they lived and farmed in Waterbury Township all their life. Marvin retired in 1978. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where he was a trustee and served on the church council. Marvin spent his winters in the Mesa, Arizona area for 25 years where he was an avid shuffleboard player, was on a Bocce ball team, and did needlework. He also enjoyed fishing, assembling puzzles, and gardening. Marvin entered Johnson Park Place in Redwood Falls in January 2004, and lived there until September 2008 when he moved to Sunwood Good Samaritan Care Center.

Marvin is survived by his children: Lois (Alan) Palmer of Lamberton, Eunice (Russ) Ahlstrom of Mankato, Alice (Ken) Gerdts of Farmington, Dallas (Janean) Neumann of Grangeville, ID, and David (Shareen) Neumann of Wabasso. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Marvin is preceded in death by his parents, wife Delouras, son Dennis, and sisters Luella, Cora, and Irene.
