Hoffman-MavisMavis Arlene Hoffman age 83 of Wabasso passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Parkview Home in Belview.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 26 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls.

Visitation is 5:30 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.  Interment is in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mavis Arlene Hoffman was born on May 15, 1929 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to Wesley and Mable (Blanchard) McKay.  She attended school in Delhi and later Redwood Falls where she graduated in 1947.  Mavis worked at Farm Credit in Redwood Falls.  On June 26, 1949 she was united in marriage to Ervin Hoffman.  Together the couple lived in Waterbury Township south of Wabasso where they farmed.  In 1999 they moved to the farm one mile west of Wabasso.  Ervin passed away November 11, 2004.  Mavis continued living on the farm until moving to Garnette Gardens in December 2011.  She moved to Parkview Home in Belview in December 2012 due to her illness.  Mavis was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls where she was a member of the Ladies Aid.  Church was very important to her.  Mavis was very involved in 4H in her younger years.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and traveling.  Mavis loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Mavis is survived by her children: Larry Hoffman of Pine Island, Nancy (Jerry) Kissner of Lamberton, Roxie (Dave) Wurscher of Seaforth, Bonnie (Mike) Franta of Maple Grove, and Ron (Barb) Hoffman of Wabasso; grandchildren: Ben, Dane, and Amber Hoffman, Nicki, Tyler, and Wade Kissner, Brandi and Zach Wurscher, Alison, Joe, and Sam Franta, Alex, Emily, and Amanda Hoffman; 5 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ervin, brother John McKay, and sister Bette Siegfried
