Michael ChaneyMichael Joseph Chaney age 63 of Redwood Falls, formerly of LaPlace, LA, passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 5 at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Michael Joseph Chaney was born December 26, 1951 in Port Arthur, Texas to Robert and Doris (Louviere) Chaney. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, TX. On August 29, 2001 Michael married Lynn (Berg) Muenchow in Rogers, Arkansas. He drove truck for Winn-Dixie. Michael was a supervisor for Godchaux Henderson sugar refinery. In 1991, he worked as a dispatcher for Canon Express in Arkansas. Michael was a school bus driver for the Rogers school district where he served as President of the bus driver’s union. He served on the board for the Arkansas Education Association where he also represented bus drivers. Michael and Lynn lived in Rogers, AR before moving to Redwood Falls in 2011. He loved fishing with his son Mike, step son Will, and father-in-law Marvin.  Michael was proud of his Cajun ancestry. He was very artistic and enjoyed woodworking, drawing, and painting.

Michael is survived by his wife Lynn Chaney of Redwood Falls; son Michael Joseph (Cheryl) Chaney II of LaPlace, LA; stepchildren: Christine (David) Palmer of Wabasso, Maree Muenchow Herder of Redwood Falls, and William (Alyce) Muenchow IV of Mound; step grandchildren: Jeremiah, Temay, Amiyah, and Jamel Broadway, and William B. Muenchow V; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his siblings: Jackie (Mark) Weavil of Clemmons, NC and Patrick L. (Pam) Smith of Quincy, MA; and aunts Helen Wojcik of TX and Gertrude Coates of Baton Rouge, LA. He is preceded in death by his mom Doris, brother Grady Smith, grandparents Levis J. and Enola Louviere, uncles Chester Wojcik, Basil Coates, and Levis J. Louviere Jr., and aunt Mary Louviere.
