Eugene Goblirsch, of rural Redwood Falls, passed away peacefully on March 23rd at his home on the family farm, the same location where he was born 90 years earlier.  He was the son of Charles and Margaret (Prokosch) Goblirsch and had a beloved sister, Dolores (Rothmeier.)  Gene attended St. Anne’s School in Wabasso and was a lifelong member of the parish.  He proudly served in the Army as a Military Police officer in Berlin, Germany.  In 1955, he married the cute neighbor girl, Marlene Manderscheid, the love of his life. They had a “handful” (as they lovingly described them) of children:  Gerry (Sonja) of Alexandria, Kris (Kevin) Callahan of Eagan, Bob (Janelle) of Wabasso, Ken of Redwood Falls, and Sandy of Redwood Falls. They were blessed with twelve grandchildren:  Sam (Jessica) and Sophie (Adrienne) Callahan, Brandon Goblirsch, Mindy (Ryan) Fleischer, Jamie (Beau) Taylor, Gina, Dustin, Kendra, Brady (Courtney), Alaina, Maverick, and Marshal Goblirsch; and a slew of adorable pets.  Gene was the grandpa who taught all the kids to shoot and to fish, and he always had a pliers handy.

He loved farming, hunting, and fishing – he often said that he also loved golf, because it kept people away from the fishing lakes.

A heartfelt thank you to the compassionate staff of Carris Home Care for their dedicated and skilled service, and to Aunt Bernie and Deb for their special support to our mom.

Gene’s children will be eternally grateful to their strong (and stubborn!) mother for her loving care of our dad, especially during his final months at home. Services will be held at a later date. Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
