Harold G. Halfmann, age 90 of Tracy, passed away Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2022 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tracy.  Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 28 at the Tracy Area Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 4:00 p.m. and Rosary to follow. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Interment will be in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Tracy. Stephens Funeral Service – Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials to the Saint Mary’s School or Sanford Hospice are preferred in lieu of flowers.

Harold George Halfmann was born July 9, 1932 to George and Grace (Thiner) Halfmann in Brewster.  He was baptized at the Church of Sacred Heart in Brewster.  Harold and his family farmed and moved between different farming locations in his lifetime. In 1950 his family had settled in rural Tracy and has lived here ever since.  Harold attended and graduated from Tracy high school.  Harold joined the U.S. Navy in 1952 and achieved 1st Class Machinist Mate.  While serving his country, Harold was honored with six different awards.  Harold was honorably discharged in 1956.  Harold married his first wife Shirley Ann (Willard) in 1953.  To this union five children were born: Steven, Debra, Judy, Jeffery and Marian.  Shirley passed away in 1979.  Harold was sales manager at the 7-Up bottling in Tracy and then at the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Marshall.  He married Marlene (Carroll-Turner) in 1981.  Harold was active in Tracy American Legion, Tracy VFW, Disabled Veterans, National Rifle Assn., A.A.R.P., The Shades of the Past Car Club, MN Deer Hunters and was one of the founding members of the Saratoga Archery Club.  He loved hunting.  Harold enjoyed going to Canada to bear hunt, and out West to antelope and deer hunt with friends and family. In 1993 Harold restored an old truck body into a yellow Coca-Cola truck.  He proudly drove it for the first time in the Shades of the Past revival parade.  He was part of a Country Western band for many years called the “The Posse”.  After “The Posse” disbanded, Harold turned his equipment into a DJ service called KHGH; he enjoyed playing his “lightshow” as he called it.  Most of all he loved his work, but mostly his faith and family.  When Harold retired he was able to enjoy spending time with his grandchildren.  Harold would like to leave this advice to the younger generation of today: “get a good education and learn how to manage your money”.

Harold is survived by his second wife, Marlene; children: Debra (David) Johnson, Judy (Dennis) Alexander; daughter-in-law, Angie Halfmann; step-sons: Mike (Michelle) Turner and Marc (fiancé Bernie Kazmriezak) Turner; grandchildren: Joe (Angela) Halfmann, April (Frank) Figueroa, Jody Bruflat, Jeremy Johnson, Christopher (Megan) Alexander, Brandon (Natalie) Alexander, Kristine (Darren) Martius, Laura Halfmann; step-grandchildren: Alexis (Evan) Bennett, Lincoln Turner, Jackson (Emily) Lounsbery, Jordan (Lacey) Lounsbery, David Turner, Grant Turner, and Jaclyn (Joshua) Molden; brother David Halfmann; sister Doris Zwach; plus, many great-grandchildren, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife Shirley, sons: Steven, & Jeffery; daughter, Marian Newberg; grandchildren: David C. Johnson Jr., Stacy Halfmann; brothers: Robert “Bob” & Francis “Herm”.
