Marilyn Elaine Johnson, age 90, of Westbrook, Minnesota, passed away Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Westbrook Good Samaritan Care Center. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2026, with a visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Westbrook Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery.
Marilyn Elaine Johnson was born December 14, 1935, to Russell and Anna (Larson) Erickson. She was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook and confirmed at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church. She attended all 12 years of school in Westbrook, graduating in 1953. Marilyn then worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company in Windom until 1956. On September 2, 1956, Marilyn married Charles “Chubby” Johnson at Old Westbrook Lutheran Church, and their marriage was blessed with two children: Mark and James Kirby. Marilyn and Chubby made their home on the farm north of Westbrook for 30 years, before moving into Westbrook in 1986. Beginning in 1978, Marilyn worked as a Dietary Aide at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Westbrook for 23 years. She was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook where she served on many different committees, including the quilting committee. Marilyn enjoyed bowling and participated in Women’s and Couple’s Bowling leagues. She loved gardening and making beautiful flower arrangements with her lilies.
Marilyn is survived by her sons, Mark Johnson and James Kirby Johnson; sister, Rosalie Rongstad; nephews: Tim, Eric & Paul Rongstad; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Anna Erickson, husband, Charles “Chubby”, and brothers-in-law, Jon Rongstad and Harris Johnson.
