Orland Norstegard Orland “Swede” Norstegard, age 78 of Westbrook, passed away while surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Sanford Westbrook Medical Center. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church on Tuesday. A private family interment will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Cemetery in Dovray at a later time. Online condolences may be sent at www.stephensfuneralservice.com. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Orland “Swede” Norstegard was born May 21, 1937 in Dovray, MN to Oscar & Lillian (Weis) Norstegard. He was baptized July 11, 1937 and confirmed June 29, 1952 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Swede graduated from Westbrook High School. On April 11, 1959, he was united in marriage to Janice Cohrs at Grace Lutheran Church. Swede had a plumbing business with his dad Oscar. He also drove truck for Hans Sondergaard, Dale Herding and Floyd Radke. His true calling was “putzing” and helping anyone who needed it. Swede’s most recent occupation was shopping with Janice. Swede loved time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed many fishing trips and his yearly deer hunt with his son Mike. Swede also enjoyed visiting and having coffee with friends.

Swede is survived by his wife Janice of 56 years; children: Jody Norstegard of Willmar, Brenda (Denis) Engen of Westbrook, Thomas (friend Amy) of Westbrook & Michael (friend Karen) of Willmar; granddaughters: Tiffany Wahl & Rachel Stevens; great grandchildren: Gracie & Emma Wahl, Lexi & Hunter Haken and Hailey; brothers in law: Arvin (Sue) Cohrs of Westbrook, Beryl Morton of Westbrook and Rob Morris of Colorado; and many other relatives and friends. Swede is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Lil Norstegard, sister Judy Morris, father and mother in law Dan & Lydia Cohrs and sisters in law Betty Morton and Janet Cohrs.
