Teresa Bonita Pacholl, age 84, of Walnut Grove passed away Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls while surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 3 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. Visitation is 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the Walnut Grove Funeral Home with a Rosary at 6:45 and prayer service at 7:00.

Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment is in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service – Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Teresa Bonita Pacholl was born January 9, 1927 in Iona, Minnesota to Bernard and Anna (Fiedler) Moritz. She graduated from Fulda High School in 1944. On October 3, 1951 Teresa was united in marriage to Merle Pacholl at St. Columba Catholic Church in Iona. After the wedding the couple lived near Slayton until 1966 when they moved to Walnut Grove. Teresa worked in the lunchroom at the Walnut Grove Public School for many years. Everyone called her “mom”. Teresa was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church where she was active in CCW. Teresa enjoyed reading, word seeks and word puzzles, playing cards, and baking and cooking for her family. Meatballs were her specialty. The coffeepot was always on for her family and friends and her door was always open to everyone.

Teresa is survived by her husband Merle of almost 60 years; children: Carolyn (Harvey) Larson of Slayton, Dale (Deb) Pacholl of Walnut Grove, Diane (James) Bue of Lakeville, Patricia (Rick) Slagel of Marshall, and Susan (Travis) Smith of Montevideo; grandchildren: Joseph Larson, Janelle (Dustin) Veldhuisen, Juli Larson, Jarrod Larson, Benjamin Pacholl, Brandon Pacholl, Charlie Gilb, Cynthia (Jon) Willhite, Heather Slagel, Tasha (Justin) Kling, and Krista (Jordan) Ellingson; great grandchildren: Sophie Larson, Madyson, Magdalynn, and Macey Sue Kling, and 2 more on the way; brother Dale (special friend Maxine) Moritz of New Roads, LA; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers, and 1 sister.
