Robert “Bob” G. Struchen was born May 22, 1930 to George and Marie (Imhoff) Struchen in Fostoria, Iowa.  He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in May City, IA.  Robert attended school in Fostoria and Melvin, IA.  He married his wife, Donna Kraninger on November 26, 1951 and this union blessed him with three step-children, James, Gary and Sandi.  They continued to grow their family with seven more children, Ronald, Steven, Beverly, Connie, Glen, Donald and Sharalyn.  Robert and Donna made Minnesota their home in 1955.  Robert farmed for 35 years.  He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing cards.  Robert loved to be with family and hold all the little ones.  Golfing was one of his favorite things to do.  He was able to shoot a hole-in-one four times during his 27 years of retirement at the Road Haven Resort, Apache Junction, AZ.  Winters in Arizona brought joy, new friends and visits from family.  Eighteen months of wonderful Hospice and family care brought Robert’s family an opportunity to love him unconditionally.

Robert is survived by his wife, Donna; children: James (Ellenn) Howard, Sandi (Keith) Wirtz, Ronald (special friend Jennifer Rasinski) Struchen, Steven (fiancée Kathy Amert) Struchen, Beverly (Ron) Werder, Connie Gribbin, Glen (Tammy) Struchen, Donald (Shannon) Struchen and Sharalyn (Larry) Hansen; and abundantly blessed with many grandchildren, great & great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kenny, sister JoAnn, son Gary, and grandchildren Joe Wirtz, Jeanna Wirtz and Travis Struchen.  With extreme gratitude, Robert’s family thanks the Murray County Hospice Team.

My sincere condolences to the family. We enjoyed our visits to the farm and playing with the kids, another large family like ours. Mom and Dad enjoyed the company of Bob and Donna. Thoughts and prayers, may your memories sustain you.

  4. Connie, I so sorry of your dad passing away. I was so glad I got to see and visit with him and Donna at the Log Cabin a few weeks ago. I have been sickly the past few weeks so didn’t make to the wake last night. You and your whole family are in my prayers.

  5. Dear Donna & family
I was saddened to learn today of Bob’s passing. It seems like yesterday that I met you & Bob at Road Haven, not almost 20 years ago. It was always such a pleasure to see you and the family members that accompanied you to my shows in Apache Junction. Bob was a fine man. Please accept my most sincere sympathy on your loss.
